Spring term

We have started the term exploring the meaning of Responsibility and Globalisation & Interdependence, as they are our Christian Value and Global Goal respectively for the term.

Religious Education

Our Spring term will be spent studying the Islamic faith and what life is like for Muslims living in Britain. We will be learning about the 5 pillars of Islam and how each one compares with the Christian faith.

Our class text this term will be The London Eye Mystery by Siobhan Dowd and we will be using this exciting novel to help us write different text types including mystery stories and newspaper reports. We will also be studying idioms and how to use modal verbs to improve our writing.

We will also be studying the incrediblly thought-provoking picture book 'The Journey' by Francesca Sanna. We will be using the book to guide our discussions about refugees around the world and how they're perceived.

In Maths, we will be developing our multiplication and division skills as well as studying and constructing line graphs. After half-term, we will be delving into the wonderful world of fractions, decimals and percentages - mastering our important conversions and learning how to find fractions of amounts.

We will be making use of MyMaths both in school and at home, as well as Times Tables Rockstars. Be sure to look out for the monthly challenges on TTRS!

We will be studying the work of Henri Rousseau and what is meant by post-impressionism. We can't wait to display our masterpieces later in the term.

We will have two Science topics this term - both Physics strands. First, we will be studying forces and the various ways in which gravity, friction and air resistance influence our world. After half-term we will be studying space and our solar system.

In the middle of March it will be Science Week and every day there will be exciting challenges to do at home. Standby for more information!
