Spring term

Responsibility & Sustainable Development

We have started the term by exploring the meaning of Responsibility & Sustainable Development, as they are our Christian Values and Global Goals respectively for the term.

Religious Education

Our Spring term will be spent considering the questions "Why is the Torah so important to Jewish people?" and "Creation or Science; conflicting or complimentary?".

English

We will be starting off the Spring term by studying the fictional picture book, Varmints. Using the books to create an adapted version of the narrative. We will then move on to reading Hidden Figures, where they will write a newspaper report about the moon landings, including the significant work of the women involved. Children will then write a persuasive letter to the King, recommending Katherine Johnson to be part of the Honours List. Finally, Pupils will study and write a range of limericks and haiku poems.

Pupils will also engage in other writing genres such as an explanation text in their foundation subjects.

Maths

In Maths this term, we will be focusing on multiplication and division, including formal written methods of both operations. Next, We'll learn about multipying fractions by integers, including finding fractions of an amount. During Spring 2, children will focus on decimals and percentages and trying to find equivalent fractions. Next, we will focus on area and perimeters, using lots of reasoning style questions and methods.

Maths homework will be set every week and will be available on MyMaths. We will be making use of MyMaths both in school and at home, as well as Times Tables Rockstars. Be sure to look out for the challenges on TTRS!
