Autumn term
Fairness & Equality
We have started the term by exploring the meaning of Fairness & Equality and Social Justice, as they are our Christian Values and Global Goals respectively for the term.
Religious Education
Our Autumn term will be spent considering the questions "What does it mean if Christians believe God is holy and loving?" and "What does it mean to be a Muslim in Britain today?".
English
We will be starting off the Autumn term by studying the fictional narrative, The boy who grew dragons and Dragonology, using the books to create a non-chronological report about their own fictional dragons. We will then move on to reading Viking Boy, where they will write a narrative involving a new character, which is reflective of the viking era. From this narrative, they will be tasked to creating a playscript/film from their new story. Finally, Pupils will study the Poem, I am the dreadful menace, and will create their own imaginative poem.
Pupils will also engage in other writing genres such as an explanation text in their foundation subjects.
Maths
In our first Maths unit, we will be focusing on number and place value, including getting to grips with different numbers up to 1,000,000 and being able to confidently find less and more of a certain amount. Next, We'll learn about the four operations and introduce formal methods of calculation involving bigger numbers. Finally, we will look at fractions and how to use our addition and subtraction skills with a fraction.
Maths homework will be set every week and will be available on MyMaths. We will be making use of MyMaths both in school and at home, as well as Times Tables Rockstars. Be sure to look out for the monthly challenges on TTRS!
Science
We will have two Science topics to learn about this term. Firstly, we will focus on Sound, looking closely at how sound travels. We will also be focusing on Living things and their habitats, specifically the life cycle of different animal classes and the reproduction of some plants.
