    Wed 11 Dec 2019 A Corwall

Keeping our children safe whilst online is paramount - especially as we head towards Christmas and potentially new technology waiting under the Christmas Tree!

Please see the attached 12 Days of Christmas - Safety online document and have a safe online Christmas :)

  • Christmas Enterprise Day

    Thu 05 Dec 2019 A Cornwall
What a great day! Thanks to Mrs Smith for organising another successful fundraising day, and to all the parents and Carers who volunteered their time. So far, we have raised over £260 for Fort Usher.
  • Visit by the Birdman

    Wed 04 Dec 2019 A Cornwall

The children loved the recent visit by the Birdman. There were some beautiful birds of prey for the children to learn about and watch in flight.

In the afternoon, lots of children chose to have a photo with their favourite bird.

  • School Community Tree Planting

    Fri 22 Nov 2019 A Cornwall

All this week, the children have been busy planting the 169 trees that were delivered last week.

The children have had great fun and although very muddy, the weather stayed dry and largely sunny!

There a few more tress to go in, and these will be planted next week. We are very excited to watch them grow over the seasons and provide homes for wildlife, shady spots for the children during summer months and all whilst helping the environment.

  • Gardening Schools Level 2 Award

Mon 11 Nov 2019 Mrs Cornwall

Once again, Claire and the Gardening Gang have surpassed themselves! We have been awarded the Gardening Schools Levels 1 and 2 award!

    Congratulations, and keep planting!

  • Woodland Trust's Green Trees School's Award

    Wed 23 Oct 2019 Mrs A Cornwall

We are delighted to announce that we have now achieved both Bronze and Silver Awards from the Woodland Trust. Claire Thompson and the children have worked hard to earn this award, which included and environmental walk by Year 3 and an inspiring Collective Worship led by Year 5 which linked plenty of information about the importance of woodlands to one of our key values - compassion

We are expecting the delivery of 160 trees to school, which the whole school community will hopefully become involved in planting.

We are now working towards the Gold Award!

  • Birthday cards for Rhys

Fri 06 Sep 2019 Mr Hyde

Today in assembly, the children heard the story of a boy from Bolton called Rhys.

Rhys is 13-years old and suffers from a rare skin condition which makes life very difficult for him, so much so that he wishes a "butterfly would come and take" him away.

His birthday is on September 21st and his mother is asking the public to get involved by sending him birthday cards to help raise his spirits. All of us at St. Andrew's were humbled by this news and we are encouraging the school community to get involved. His mother, Ms Williams, says "hopefully it can make him see that not everything is bad."

Cards brought into school will be posted together. Alternatively, if you wanted to send one privately, Rhys' address is 40 Whalley Avenue, Bolton, BL1 5UD.

  • Our new website launches

Wed 04 Sep 2019 Mr Hyde

Over the summer break, our school website has been overhauled and we are over-the-moon with the new-look site.

There are still a few niggly little details that we need to get sorted out so please bare with us whilst we get this done. We thank you for your patience.

  • Peanut, nut and other allergies.

    Wed 24 Jan 2018

we have been made aware that there are a small number of children at St. Andrews who display sensitivity to peanuts/nuts. This allergic reaction(anaphylactic shock) can occur through ingestion of peanut/nut products, cross contamination and breathing peanuts(smells) in the air.

Since this condition can be potentially life threatening, we are asking for your help in minimising the risk to these children by:-

    a) Avoiding giving children peanuts in school lunches

    b) Avoiding giving peanut butter sandwiches, other spreads containing nuts such as Nutella, and snack bars containing nuts or labelled "may contain nut traces" in their school lunches.

    c) Asking children not to share their lunches.

Due to the severity of the problem, it is important that all parents carry out the suggested measures and help reduce the risk of allergic reactions to these children.

Please could you inform school of any other allergies your child(ren) may have that we need to be aware of.

We thank you for your co-operation.

    Mrs A Cornwall

     Headteacher.

  • Environmental awareness visit from Henry Brothers Construction

    Wed 15 Mar 2017
Today we had a visit from Mr Ward who is the Environmental Specialist from Henry Brothers Construction, the company building the new Glossopdale Community School.  He talked about his role to the whole school and later talked in classes about the protecting the local environment and the construction of the new school.  He kindly presented the school with a bird table as part of an awareness of the environment project.
