Diwali:

In RE we have been learning about the story of Rama and Sita and the celebrations that take place during the Diwali festival, also known as the 'Festival of Light'.

We have been looking at Mandala patterns which are drawn onto the skin using Henna, which is a paste created from dried leaves of the Henna plant. They are often drawn onto hands of Hindus during celebrations and special occasions such as weddings and festivals. We had a go at creating our own 'Henna hands' using a Mandala pattern and tracing paper. Next week, we will be creating our own Diwali candles and Rangoli mats whilst further learning about what traditions are in place for the Festival of Light.
