Year 4 2023/24

Welcome to Year 4,

Here on our year group page you will find an overview of this year's curriculum, termly subject areas and some helpful links to online homework. 

Please look out for our ClassDojo stories which will keep you updated on what is happening in school for our classes.

Spring Term

English

This term, we are reading the book 'Pip and the Bamboo Path'. We will be using this as a basis for our own creative writing. We will be discussing environmental issues and using this to inform persuasive letter writing. 

Maths

We will be covering the following topics in our Maths lessons: perimeter, short division, fractions and decimals. We are practising our times tables every day, ready for the multiplication test in June. Please encourage your child to use TT Rockstars as much as possible.

Science

We have been enjoying learning about electricity and making circuits. We will be learning about our teeth and eating.

Geography

We will be comparing the UK to the Netherlands, exploring different aspects of physical and human geography. We will have fun using Digimaps!

Art

We will be looking at Renaissance art, focusing on Leonardo DaVinci's painting of 'The Last Supper'.

Music

We will be using the pentaglock, along with other percussion instruments, to learn about rhythm and notation.

Computing

We will be creating our own podcasts! 

Religious Education

We will be learning about Hinduism and exploring how Hindus express their faith. 

Physical Education

We will be exploring different styles of dance, learning steps and choreographing our own routines!

French

We will be learning key words to help us retell the story of 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears' in French.
