Parent Governor Vacancies

*We currently have no Parent Governor vacancies*

Parent governors are elected by and from the parents of children currently attending our school.  They serve a four-year term of office and bring a very important and valued perspective to the work of the governing body.

The governing body has a vital role to play in making sure every child receives the best possible education. This is achieved by ensuring that governors have the necessary skills and commitment to contribute to the effective governance and success of the school.  The particular skills that governing bodies need will vary and will include personal qualities and capabilities, such as the ability and willingness to learn and work as part of a team.  It is expected that governors will make use of the various training opportunities available to them and play a full part in the work of the governing body.

Most governing body meetings are held on a Tuesday evening.  Three Local Governing Body meetings are held each year at 6.30pm and usually last from 2 hours to 2.5 hours.  You will also become a committee member (either Teaching & Learning or Resources, finance committee). Whilst previous experience of school governance is useful, this is by no means a pre-requisite for this role as full support and induction training is provided.  Most importantly, we seek a parent governor who has a passion for the inclusive education that St Andrew's CE Junior School provides and is keen to work in a supportive but challenging way with the Senior Leadership of the school, to ensure the continued delivery of high-quality education for children of families in our local community.

If you are interested in becoming a governor and wish to discuss this, please contact Mrs Powell at the school on l.powell1@st-andrews-jun.derbyshire.sch.uk; alternatively please complete the below nomination form (self-nomination is acceptable), and return to the school by ASAP

If there are more nominations than vacancies than an election may be held and if so, you will be sent a voting paper.  Completed voting forms will be counted at a time mutually agreed between me and the candidates within a week of the closing date for votes and all parents will be notified of the result.
