Last week, in our grammar review, we began looking at using apostrophes for contraction, e.g. don't, can't etc.
There are quite a lot of examples of apostrophes for contraction in this text, so, I would like you to follow these steps:
- Find the apostrophes, which use contraction.
- Write their expanded form above.
- Re-read the letter and decide whether it is better to use the contracted (shortened) words or whether the expanded alternative is better.
Once you have completed the above, write a quick message to either myself or Mr Hinett, explaining whether it is better to include apostrophes for contraction of the expanded alternative.
